CAVITIES

The cavity is referred to as caries, which is caused by the action of long-term destructive forces on tooth structures.

CAVITIES
Causes:

When carbohydrates (sugars and starches) are consumed and not flushed out, bacteria grow and turn the carbohydrates into acids. Bacteria, acids, food residue and saliva create plaque, which softens the enamel and dentin of the tooth, creating a cavity.

Three factors play a role in the formation of a cavity:
Heredity;
Hygiene;
Type of food.

Prevention:

Regular tooth brushing to remove plaque;
Daily flossing;
A low sugar diet;
Biannual dental exams with your dentist;
Perform x-rays to diagnose a cavity in its early stages.
